Philippine Summit on Local Governance
1st Roundtable Discussion
In view of the institutionalization of a national representative forum-similar to the Philippine Development Forum-to facilitate substantive policy dialogue on decentralization-related issues LOGODEF has taken the lead to conduct a series of roundtable discussions to review decentralization-related issues and identify prospective legislative reform measures. The 1st RTD, with the Congressional Planning and Budget Department of the House of Representatives and the Senate Economic Planning Office as partners of LOGODEF in this initiative, shall identify a common legislative agenda for local government reforms.

LOCAL GOVERNANCE: Coping with Emerging Challenges
2nd of the LOGODEF Lecture-Series
The "Local Governance: Coping with Emerging Challenges" is a sequel to the launching event held last March 2008. As part of the Foundation’s efforts to strengthen its network linkages, the second Lecture-Series (as will be the case from henceforth) will be conducted in partnership with the Association of Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines, Inc. (ASPAP). It is one of the areas for collaboration and cooperation identified by both LOGODEF and ASPAP per Memorandum of Agreement signed last April 2008.
This 2nd of the Lecture-Series which will be held in Baguio City will address the unique concerns of the locality and to make the topics and discussion more relevant to its target audience, the lecture has its theme on local governance and coping with emerging challenges.

Launching of the Konrad Adenaeur Medal of Excellence (KAME) V
The Konrad Adenaeur Medal of Excellence which is an award for best managed local governments in the Philippines is given by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Local Government Development Foundation (LOGODEF) every three (3) years or during a term of a local government official. The award is conferred to local executives and their local governments whose leadership epitomizes the ideals which Konrad Adenauer believed in and practiced while in public service. The Senate of the Philippines recognized KAME in Senate Resolution (P.S. Res. No. 681) during the First Regular Session of the 10th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines as an important award to promote accountable local governments and effective local governance.

This 2nd of the series of roundtable discussions will bring together experts on lobbying to share notable insights as regards processes and concerns in lobbying. This 2nd RTD, with the Congressional Planning and Budget Department of the House of Representatives and the Senate Economic Planning Office as partners of LOGODEF in this initiative, shall identify both the formal and informal procedures in the actual process of lobbying, thereby formulating suggestive strategies in facilitating legislations. Likewise, the discussion aims to identify measures in processing the comprehensive strategies.

This 3rd of the series of roundtable discussions hopes to proceed with a review of the outcomes of the previous RTDs and to present the role of stakeholders in the pursuit of the identified agenda. As such, the discussion shall showcase perspectives of several stakeholders to be able to conduct analysis regarding prioritization of concerns; a creation of technical working group which shall look into the technical details of issues and can propose either a consolidation or substitution of a bill.
