Key Stakeholders’ Summit for the drafting of the GRP comprehensive agreement on Political and Constitutional Reforms

Last December 12. 2016, The reciprocal working group (RWG) on the PCR, supervised by the Chair, Dean Sedfrey M. Candelaria invited the Local Government Development Foundation to the Stakeholders’ Public Consultation on Political and and Constitutional Reforms. The public consultation aims to gather and consolidate position papers and published materials that will be reflected in the draft. The public consultation was divided into 5 clusters or break out groups, each of which were headed by lead facilitators who were also RWG members.

UPNCPAG and City of Mandaluyong Federalism Forum

University of the Philippines (UP)-National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) Forum on Federalism

The Public Administration 259 Post-Graduate Class (Special Issues in Local Government) of UP-NCPAG organized a forum entitled “Federalism in the Philippines: Opportunities, Issues and Prospects” on 8 December at Bayanihan Hall, Unilab, Pioneer St., Mandaluyong City. Under the supervison of Atty. Benjamin C. Abalos, former Mayor of Mandaluyong City, the forum aims to deepen the understanding of the participants by unpacking the various aspects of federalism.

LOGODEF-PREP, PDP- Laban Federalism Institute Study Groups presents the Draft Philippine Semi-Presidential Federal Model of Government to the Development Academy of the Philippines

Prof. Edmund Tayao, executive director of LOGODEF, presented the draft Philippine semi-presidential federal model of government formed by the PDP-Federalism Institute Study Groups to the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) on 7 December at San Miguel Ave., Pasig City. The briefing of DAP on federalism includes Carlos Tabunda Jr., Edicio Dela Torre, Ben Oliver Matias, Marietta Legaspi,  Sonny Cuenco, Rita Gallardo, Joyce Cruz, Dennis Tiu and Angel Cababa.

LOGODEF-PREP, PDP-Laban Federalism Institute Study Groups met with House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez

Last December 1, LOGODEF-PREP, PDP-Laban Federalism Institute Study Groups presented the Philippine Semi-Presidential Federal Model of Government to Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III. On December 6, 2016, the study groups had the chance to present the model to House Speaker Pantaleon ‘Bebot’ Alvarez at the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City. The presentation was led by LOGODEF Executive Director Edmund Tayao, and PDP-Laban Federalism Institute Executive Director Jonathan Malaya.

LOGODEF and its Board of Trustees members, Dr. Gaudioso Sosmeña, Dr. Guillermo, and Executive Director Edmund Tayao, welcomed the Vietnam Ministry of Home Affairs – Institute for State Organizational Sciences (ISOS) delegates last 01 December 2016 at the Embassy of Vietnam in Pablo Ocampo Street, Malate, Manila. The members of the delegation were the Mr. Tran Van Ngoi (President of ISOS), Mr. Ta Ngoc Hai (Deputy President of ISOS), Ms. Nguyen Huyen Hanh (Head of Division for Renumeration, Public Policies in Regime), Ms. Hoang Thi Lan Huong (Officer, ISOS), Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Anh (Representative, MOHA – ISOS),  and Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Giang (Researcher, ISOS).
