LOGODEF, in cooperation with the University of the East (UE), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and social media partner, Rappler, organized a series of pre-election activities to help make the 2013 elections become an avenue for more meaningful exercise of public participation in governance.
Specifically designed to target the “Youth Vote???, students from UE, Centro Escolar University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Sebastian College and representatives from the Local Leagues were invited to listen to candidates vying for a seat in the Upper Chamber. The forum, dubbed as Tapat na Tapatan, Ung Totoo Lang: 2013 Edukasyon, Kabataan at Lokal na Pamahalaaan Tapat na Tapatan, Ung Totoo Lang: 2013 Edukasyon, Kabataan at Lokal na Pamahalaaan Senatorial Forum and Mock Polls, was held last March 5 at the UE Main Theater.
Among the Senatorial Candidates that graced the event are: Democratic Party of the Philippines’s (DPP): Greco Antonious Belgica, Baldomero Falcone and Chirstian Señeres; Ang Kapatiran’s JC de los Reyes, Marwil Llasos and Rizalito David; United Nationalist Alliance’s (UNA) Mitos Magsaysay; Bangon Pilipinas’ Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Social Justice Society’s Atty. Samson Alcantara. Representatives of COMELEC and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) were also invited to join the discussions. By bringing the two voters and the candidates together, the Foundation ultimately hoped that stakeholders’ perspectives and interests would significantly be considered and reflected in the 16th Congress.
